Saintsgiving

proper noun clipping and blending
local holiday that occurs when the New Orleans Saints NFL team plays a football game on Thanksgiving Day

Happy Saintsgiving! coined by native New Orleaneans on Thanksgiving Day of 2010 as the Saints played the Dallas Cowboys. Saints sounds like "Thanks" of "Thanksgiving" so the "Thanks" was clipped and "Saints" was blended with the "giving" of "Thanksgiving". It was also a way of saying thanks to the team for playing so well throughout the season and giving hope to the city.
Etymology : the plural noun "Saints" blended with "giving" of the clipped "Thanksgiving"
