wag

verb; other word formation type initialism
acronym for Wild Ass Guessing, action similar to “bullshitting” or process of guessing because the doer does not know enough to make the right choice or an educated one. A random choice particularly on exams due to the lack of knowledge or inability to make a choice. Pun of swag. It was originally a phrase that was turned into an acronym that happens to be a pun on swag because it is considered "cool" and therefore have an analogy relationship between their sound and connotation.

“Dude, I have no idea what’s going on. I’m just gonna wag it.”
Etymology : Possibly from “wag” From 13th century Scandinavian “wag” meaning "waver, vacillate, lack steadfastness," probably from a Scandinavian and old Norse “vagga” meaning to rock a cradle and in part from Old English wagian "move backwards and forwards;" all from Proto-Germanic *wagojanan and PIE root *wegh- "to move about" (see weigh). The word underwent widening to rocking back and forth between answers and then narrowing specifically for answers which was widened to randomly choosing answers. Another possible etymology is that it was a creative formation based off of the phrase “wild ass guessing” making it an initialism that was converted to an acronym that happen to rhyme with swag so it can also be a pun off of the word “swag”.
