neologist

noun; derivation
One who studies neologisms

The word stems from the same process that made the word “geologist”, among others. It was created in an ironic comment on the class and this word journal assignment – describing the process of collecting neologisms by creating yet another neologism.
Etymology : from the same roots as “neologism”, “neo” + “log” + “ist”, “ism” meaning “one who performs/does an action”
Source : “So if you’re collecting and studying these neologisms for this class, does that make you a neologist?” (conversation with friend, 11/10/2016)
