Niki-ism

noun; derivation
A word that has been clipped for the express purpose of reducing the number of syllables

Niki is a senior bioengineering student has a tendency to excessively clip words. The word “boyf” was actually first created by her. Other examples of Niki-isms include “totes” to mean “totally” and “perf” to mean “perfect”. The word is derived from the same affix as and follows a parallel structure to “neologism”, as it was created when I was trying to think of a last word for this word journal.
Etymology : from “Niki” + “ism”, where “Niki” is an abbreviation/nickname for Nikitha and “ism” as a noun-forming morpheme meaning “having the attributes of”
