MacGyver

noun; analogy
one who can use materials in novel ways an informal name given to one who can use materials for many untraditional purposes in creative ways. Usually one who is able to use his or her skills in high - pressure situations. Originated from a television show about a man who used his science and wits, instead of violence to solve problems.
 
The mechanic is a MacGyver; he used old parts from a motorcycle to fix the car.
