fing

verb; back formation
To do that which fingers do Possible reason used: It’s easy for people to take a verb, and add –ER to form a noun that means someone or something that performs the action of that verb. Otto follows the opposite process, removing the –ER from the end of a noun, and supposes the result is a verb.

You know, they call ‘em fingers, but I’ve never seen them fing.
Etymology : back formation of finger
