endogenize

verb; back formation
To make endogenous. To insert a variable into a function in an economic model. This makes the variable endogenous to the system, which means its relation to the other variables in the system is determinate and not treated as given and unaffected by the ot To ‘make endogenous’ is cumbersome and awkward. The direct verbal expression of endogenizing is needed, and back formation is the logical way to create the word to do it. You remove the –ous adjectival suffix, add the verb –ize suffix, and voila—you’ve logically back formed a word. The common concept of endogenity (also not a word) and back forming endogenize is badly needed in economics literature.
