Obamania

noun; blending
The intense excitement over Barack Obama winning the 2008 Presidential election.

The name 'Obama' blends nicely with 'mania' particularly because of the overlap with 'ma' at the end of the former and beginning of the latter. It is also an appropriate new word given the seemingly unprecedented excitement over a political candidate that had not been seen in years. The term is generally but not exclusively used by those critical of Obama's positions and worried about what a politician with that much favor can do.
Etymology : A blending of 'Obama,' referring to the President for the 2008-2012 term, and 'mania,' meaning the standard definition: An excessively intense enthusiasm, interest, or desire; a craze (from the American Heritage Dictionary).
