To zoo

analogy; noun
An event during which people get together to drink large amounts of alcohol coupled with the commotion of drunkenness.

The term is most likely a metaphor with a zoo where animals are kept, the connection being that the people drinking get drunk to the point that they start acting like animals, probably doing things they would not do while sober. This would be contrasted with friends getting together to enjoy a few drinks and relax or even getting drunk to the point of just passing out.
Etymology : An analogy with 'zoo' meaning 'a park-like area in which live animals are kept in cages or large enclosures for public exhibition' from Greek 'zo' meaning 'animal.'
