Quad refers to the rectangular area enclosed by college or a couple of buildings. Generally used in the sense of a college where people generally spend their time or hang out. The term 'to quad' has also derived from this culture and basically means hanging out, drinking playing games in the quad area.
Etymology : quad is derived from clipping of the word quadrangle and has retained the meaning.
