hiberdating(1)

blending and clipping
A term used to describe a newly formed couple. It refers to the new couples tendency to only be with each other and not associate with other friends during the newly formed relationship.

This term is especially relevant for Rice students since the phenomena of hiberdating is almost inevitable for a new relationship. The word was probably created out of frustration as friends don't like losing other friends.
Etymology : "hibernating" with "dating"
