Multi-Touch

compounding; noun
The feature on touch-screen devices that allow you to use more than one fingers for gestures such as zooming, scrolling, etc. The term became popular with the introduction of Apple iPhone in June 2007. The widespread use of capacitive screen makes possible for users o use more than one fingers to use the touch screen, hence the the "multi" "touch". Originally applied to mostly Apple devices, the term has now expanded to multiple touch screen devices such as monitors and tablet pcs.

Etymology : compound of the prefix "multi-" and the word "touch".
