jack

noun; zero derivation
A prank. “Jack” is a slang term used at Rice University to describe a prank, usually acted within the University. The term “jack” is based on a clipping of the verb “hijack”. To hijack means “to steal or forcibly take”, but here it is interpreted more as a “mischievous act”. The term is also used as a shibboleth inside the university to help identify the students as part of Rice University.

We will have a meeting to discuss jacks for the other colleges.
