- The first part of the word, preg-, is a clipping from pregnant. The word is often used in the phrase “preggo my eggo”, which carries a similar connotation. This phrase, in turn, comes from “leggo my eggo”, a slogan used by Eggo Waffles in recent years. The word leggo is a slurring of “let go”, which can sound like leggo when spoken quickly. The words pregnant and leggo are blended to form preggo, which keeps the rhyming of the phrase. Preggo is now often used as a standalone term for pregnant, without being used inside the phrase.
