noun blending, clipping
a humanities or social sciences major at Rice University who is said to be lazy because he/she rarely has any work to do and has more free time than a science or engineering major.
 
Only slackadems would have time to party on a Tuesday night.
Etymology : from the blending of ‘slacker’ and ‘academ,’ which is a clipping of ‘academic.’ 'slacker' is an agent noun from Old English 'slack.' 'academic' from Latin.
