Tattoo

verb zero derivation
To hit or be hit very hard, such as in football. A tattoo is a permanent design inked into the skin. Tattoo can also be used as a verb meaning to apply a tattoo. This usage is a metaphorical extension of that verb. The idea is that the player was hit so hard that it left a permanent mark on him, and since a tattoo is an example of a permanent mark, it is as if the attacker applied a tattoo to the defender by hitting him.

He was absolutely tattooed by Dulce, who got through the gap untouched.
Etymology : metaphorical extension of verb ‘tattoo’
