“Hey man, hide that stuff, the popo are at the front door!”
Etymology : California late 80’s. police officers that patrol certain beaches on bikes who wore a vest that said “PO” in huge block letters on each of their chests, which means Police Officer. They would usually ride in groups of two. Naturally, people began describing the two officers as the “popo”, as their chests would read.
