- Harry and Ron went with the yabadoos.
yabadoo
noun; sound symbolism
offensive term for a person of South Asian descent Presumably, this comes from some form of Fred Flintstone’s “yaba-daba-doo,” so I guess it is sound symbolism or metaphorically meant to recall some idea of primitiveness and foreignness; i.e., yabadoo sounds distinctly not-English.
Etymology : Most likely compressed form of yaba-[daba]-doo, from animated cartoon the Flintstones
Source : A person behind me in the theater at Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
