- After getting my Ninja, I could never look at riding in a cage the same way again.
cage
noun;
Motorcyclist’s term for a car Motorcycle riders refer to cars as ‘cages’, most likely because they equate being surrounded by metal and glass as being in a cage. The reason why most riders decide to buy motorcycles in the first place is because they enjoy the freedom and the feeling of openness that they get while riding their motorcycles, so the idea of going back to driving inside the completely closed environment of a car isn’t exactly appealing. Thus, the use the term ‘cage’ to refer to their four-wheeled automobiles.
Etymology : [metaphoric extension of the word cage to being surrounded by glass and metal inside a car]
