A person who tries very hard to be something they are not, to the point that they are deluding themselves about their popularity, skills, and general likability. They are posing as something they are not, often even attempting to hang around with people they do not really agree/belong with in order to be more well-liked. Originally from the french 'poser,' the term is correctly spelled "poseur." However, the term has been misspelled as 'poser' frequently enough that this has become the accepted spelling even in English. (1990s)
 
Why does that poser hang out with us, he doesn't even like any of the music we always listen to?
