social structure largely influenced by visual media. Blending of video and democracy. A “videocracy” is a government or social situation that is largely influenced by the media. This term most likely emerged in the last ten years as the media has become dominated by the visual. Things such as movies, video games, and television shows have become more influential than the radio or newspaper.
 
American society may be seen as a videocracy due to the prevalance of visual media.
