Larping (LARPing)

While LARP stands for "live action role playing," "Larping" is a verbal noun which expresses what people who LARP actually do. Larping is when gamers dress up in costume to go out and play a role playing game at a specific location. Role playing games are games in which there is an agreed story line and possible actions, but it is up to the gamers to decide when to use such actions to develop the story line. In larping, the gamers actually act out the actions and the story line. It is basically like playing "cowboys and indians" but with more rules, more character choices, and an infinite number of story lines.
 
Person 1: "Why are they dressed up and carrying pool noodles in the quad?" Person2: "Oh, woah! They are larping in the quad!"
Etymology : LARPing comes from the acronym LARP which means "live action role play."
