Webinar (3)

noun; blending
A formal seminar or meeting among groups of individuals over the Internet. Such individuals do not need to “meet” in the same physical location to converse because they can rather use web-based software—such as Skype or GoogleTalk—to have conversations with multiple people over the internet. Typically Webinars are used for explanatory purposes for large companies, organizations, or products and not for simple conversation between friends.

To distinguish between an informal video-chat and a more formal one hosted by an organization and that is seminar-like, the term "Webinar" was created.
Etymology : Blending of the words web and seminar
