Playing

verb derivation
not being fidelous or monogamous.

The term probably came from the saying "playing the field" meaning to date around instead of only dating one person. Today, the term has developed a foolish connotation towards the person who is "being played" or being cheated on.
Etymology : from old english plegian, west germanic pegan, and middle dutch pleyen meaning to "rejoice." (etymonline.com)
