Dje
blending
;
abbreviation
"Do you" at the beginning of a question.
"Dje folla?" "Dje wanna come?"
Etymology :
Assimilation of the voiced stop [d] in "do" to the palatal approximant [j] of "you", because the tight and cumbersome [u] of "do" was dropped. The assimilation of the alveolar and the palatal results in the average of the sounds, the palato-alveolar affricate [dzh] (approx.) of "dje". The [u] of "you" is softened to a schwa or wedge, resulting our final product, "dje".
