Jamba

noun; other word formation type Eponym (Metonymy)
A replacement for a fruit smoothy regardless of the store in which it is purchased.

Since the founding of the Jamba Juice Corporation, the term Jamba has been used as a replacement for the two word phrase "fruit smoothy." It is more convenient to say and because of the company's prominence, it has taken on a similar role that 7/11's slurpee took on when it rose to prominence. The term is not used to replace the fruit smoothies of other large competitors of Jamba Juice. Rather it is used to name generic brand smoothies or smoothies from small businesses.
Etymology : Clipped from Jamba Juice.
