dubstep

noun Blending
A recently popular form of electronic dance music that originated in London.

The earliest dubstep tracks were dub remixes of two-step garage songs. Other styles of music had influence on these early tracks, but dub and two-step remained the two primary influences. Eventually this style of music became more distinct from either of the two parent genres, and electronica labels coined and started circulating the term “dubstep” to describe this new music.
Etymology : From the names of two of the genres of music that form its stylistic origins, dub and two-step garage.
