flailure

noun Blending
The action of having accidentally flirted with someone; alternatively a failed attempt at flirting.

This is not a word heavily in need, as several other words can describe this situation adequately. The word coiner was searching for a fun and creative way to describe a somewhat common problem. Since the term describes a failure during flirtation, the two words found in this blended term (“flirt” and “failure”) make sense. The coiner cleverly gave us an additional term that is the coincidental byproduct of that combination: flail. The word “flail” at the forefront of the word gives the term an amusing additional edge of failure, as it brings to mind the pathetic picture of someone flailing about, which often people who have committed a flailure do, if usually conversationally instead of physically.
Etymology : Blending of the roots “flirt” and “failure”
