butterface

noun; compounding
a girl whose features are appealing except her face; i.e. everything is attractive “but her face” Type of Formation: combination and creative respelling (but+her+face then respelling yields butterface) Possible Reason Used: The usefulness and popularity of this word arises from the masked meaning of the term. That is, the term butterface may be used to describe such a woman when she is in close proximity without fear of revealing your opinion to indicated woman. Hence the term is closely guarded among men (a de facto gender in-group) because of the obvious utility of a term to assess women without their knowledge. Note that a declaration of a butterface often results from the clarification of a DDF situation. (DDF means Distance Distortion Factor, that is, when a girl that appears attractive from a distance is not as attractive up close. This is another covert, male-exclusive term.)

Source : Context and Source: Term in common usage within the male cross country team of Bedford High School, Temperance MI. Although this is not the innovating source. First usage noted circa June 2004, as a term of disparagement.
