bffl

noun; acronym
Another word that can mean a true best friend but is also sometimes used ironically to describe a person someone is not truly friends with.

Bffl is pronounced biffle and is an acronym of 'best friends for life'. It was originally used by younger girls and pre-teens as another way to say that someone is their best friend. However, it is now used by older teenagers as well. It still means very close friend, but it can also be used sarcastically to highlight the fact that a person is not actually friends with someone.
Etymology : Acronym of 'best friends for life;' pronounced phonetically as a word, not by letter.
