pwn

verb;
To own (see OWN), to be superior in some area or better at something than someone else, especially used for video games. As with the word own, the writer was looking for a way to say that he is superior in some area. Because this word is 1337 (which is often used in a joking sense), this conveys a sense that the writer is not entirely serious. Also, this is a shibboleth, although not as severe a shibboleth as “own” is. Using this word suggests a greater degree of superiority than “own,” suggesting that the writer was quite confident in his superiority.
