VOIP

verb; zero derivation
To converse over the phone, especially a phone that uses a specific type of technology (VoIP). VOIP is jargon among people interested in technology. So, this word could be used among members of this group as a more specific verb than “call.” This could also be used as a shibboleth – members of this group could be expected to know if they are VOIPing or using a more traditional phone service. In addition, this term is original and humorous to those who have not heard it before, whether they have heard the noun “VoIP” or not.
