- Coined during the abbreviation craze of 2010; simply a shorted version of the word library. It is a clipping of the word with an -s on it that is meaningless and simply adds to the sound of the word. Meant to imply familiarity with the library.
libes
clipping; noun
the library, the building where books are stored and can usually be checked out with a library card.
Etymology : clipping of the word library, with a meaningless -s added. Library comes from French.
