The study of football. This word was used in a joking manner by my cousin, who spends the majority of his time watching football. Thus, when I asked him if he had decided what he would be majoring in, he replied that he was majoring in footballology. He knew the morpheme “log” meant “to study,” so he creatively added it to the word football to derive his own subject. My cousin probably also used this blend because it was unexpected and original, thus causing us to laugh.
