HCIH

abbreviation; other word formation type Initialism
How can I help?

The term HCIH was used to represent the phrase, ‘how can I help,’ and is an initialism because each letter name of the abbreviation is pronounced. The pronunciation of the term is separate from the conventional sounds that the letters represent. The term ‘HCIH’ was created in analogy to other computer terms such as ‘LOL’ and ‘LMAO.’ This analogy was intentional, as the speaker used the initialism as a way to connect to a young age group, who are more familiar with the analogous technological terms. Therefore, the initialism effectively conveyed the speaker’s message by making the phrase more relatable to the population that he was addressing.
Etymology : computer chat, phone text, or technological abbreviation of the phrase, ‘how can I help?’
