BTH is an initialism for the phrase, ‘back to Hanszen,’ in which the name of each letter in the abbreviation is pronounced. The abbreviation consists of the first letter of each word in the phrase. The abbreviation ‘BTH’ was used in a text conversation to shorten the phrase and make the text quicker and more concise. The creation of this word was influenced by the prevalence of other initialisms throughout computer and text language, including such words as BTW (by the way) and BRB (be right back). The term is used by a population of Rice University students, most often those who reside in Hanszen College.
