duplex

verb; zero derivation
to interact with a single other cellular component (protein, DNA, RNA) on a molecular level The zero derivation allows a quicker way to say “form a duplex;” much practical biological terminology is created in this way, as shorthand for explaining complicated ideas.

When an antisense morpholino oligonucleotide duplexes with mRNA, the binding is much stronger than if an unmodified antisense oligonucleotide were used.
Etymology : zero derivation from the noun duplex
