Ex

verb; other word formation type Metonymy
To close out of a computer window by means of clicking the ‘x’ at the top corner.

Because of the universal natural of the letter “x” as a means of leaving a computer window, the word ‘close’ can be replaced by “ex,” which is derived from the letter itself. This word can only be used in relation to a computer, and has come into use solely as a result of the relationship between the icon used to complete the action and the action itself.
Etymology : Metonomy of the letter “x,” creating the word “ex.”
