Originally a term indicating a type of poetry, its meaning changed to become a synonym for slang terms “cool” or “awesome.” Its meaning further widened to become an adverb which describes adjectives, becoming synonymous with “very.”
Etymology : Broadening of the word “epic,” a term that originally referred to a long poem, typically derived from oral tradition.
