T.V. celibacy

noun; compounding
The state of living without watching any T.V. The speaker likes to watch T.V. but was unable to do so for a week. He coined this word to describe this state. This word is formed by combination, but its meaning comes from a metaphor. My roommate was comparing his week’s T.V. watching life to the sexual abstinence of celibates. He used celibacy to mean ‘state of having refrained from.'

After a week of work induced T.V. celibacy, I am okay with having watched T.V. all afternoon.
Etymology : T.V. from television, from Greek tele- 'afar, far off' + Latin visio 'sight, seeing, thing seen' celibacy, from Latin caelibs “unmarried, single”
