Legit (3)

adjective; clipping From the word legitimate, removing the last five letters.
Authentic and cool.

Heard this term from a friend to describe his running race. Found it very interesting & have been using it in my vocabulary ever since. It is modern slang abbreviation for the word legitimate which contains the root leg meaning law.
Etymology : Word legitimate comes from Modern Latin legitimatus meaning to "make lawful, declare to be lawful.”
