gameaholic (215)

noun; blending and clipping
one who is addicted to playing video games; a blend of ‘gamer’ and ‘alcoholic’

This term is a blending of the word ‘gamer’ and ‘alcoholic’ and clipping by taking off the end of ‘gamer’ and the beginning of ‘alcoholic’. Its meaning mimics that of ‘alcoholic’, with the relationship between the two words being an addiction to something (in this case, the addiction is for two very different things). This term is coined to describe the extreme video gamers who are constantly found playing, or those who play with whatever free time they find. It is used mainly by outsiders who have little interest or knowledge in the video games themselves to describe these extremists.
Etymology : from the words ‘gamer’ and ‘alcoholic’
