The university course entitled ‘Multivariable Calculus’ The speaker used this word simply because it is easier to say than the full title it represents. It is very similar to many other words in student language in that it is simply a clipping of the source word that carries the same meaning as the original. I think this comes from students’ general laziness and desire to make life easier.
