Docudrama

noun; blending
A dramatized depiction of real events usually in television or movies

The type of media that this term describes is becoming much more common. It’s popularity necessitated a term to label the emerging genre. This term is used in a news article which was written formally, which means that even though it is a neologism, it is not considered slang. This may be because it fills gap in the language.
Etymology : Blending of the words “documentary” and “drama”
