Ritaville

noun; derivation
The place that many Martel college students stayed the night that Hurricane Rita made landfall. This word was formed to give a name to the shelter that was prepared in the North Servery when Hurricane Rita landed. The shelter resembled a town. There were rows of mattresses arranged like houses with roadways running through them. It was only fitting that the shelter should be given a town-like name, so the generic town-name-forming suffix –ville was added to the name of the hurricane.

Instead of running from the hurricane, we are going to stay on campus at Ritaville.
Etymology : Ritaville. Derived from Rita 'name of Hurricane' + -ville, from French ville 'town'
