An internet video about a man singing to the Romanian song “Dragostea Din Tei”. This word refers to an extremely popular internet video in which a man by the name of Gary Brolsma sings and dances to the Romanian song “Dragostea Din Tei.” While the title of the song actually translates to “Love of the Linden Tree” or “Love among the Linden Tree”, this is not what most American fans associate as the title of the song. The words ‘numa numa’ are a recurring phrase in the chorus. Thus, if you say to someone “the numa numa song” they will know what you are talking about, as opposed to “Dragostea Din Tei”. I speculate that this word was used instead of the original title because it is a lot easier to remember ‘numa numa’ than, “Dragostea Din Tei”.
