A term often used by make up and beauty enthusiasts, dupes are defined as low cost alternatives to high end makeup for people on a budget.
 
"I'm focusing on a bunch of high end makeup that are kind of overrated and that have a low cost alternative that's like a dupe for that or maybe even better."
Etymology : Dupe (n): clipping from duplicate (verb), after it undergoes the process of zero derivation into a noun. coined in 1620s, meaning "to double," from Latin "duplicatus," past participle of "duplicare," meaning "make an exact copy" is from 1640s.
