Podestrian

noun; blending and clipping
One who frequently travels by foot while listening to an Apple iPod music player. Apparent Meaning: One who can be seen walking around while listening to music on an Apple iPod portable music device. The term is a blending of the word PEDESTRIAN and the name of a popular portable music player, the IPOD. The POD- portion of the term is a clipping of the proper name IPOD, and the remaining portion –ESTRIAN is taken from the term PEDESTRIAN, which refers to a person who travels on foot. The two clippings are blended to form PODESTRIAN, one who travels on foot while listening to an iPod. Possible Reason Used: iPods have become the premier technology in the portable music player industry. Many students can be seen walking around the campus of Rice University wearing headphones and listening to music on an iPod. This significant population of iPod users has been recognized and has been given a fitting name, PODESTRIAN, which is an easy and catchy way of saying “one who walks around listening to an iPod.”

Hopefully I’ll get an iPod for Christmas so I can join all the Podestrians.
Etymology : clipping/blend of (i)Pod x (ped)estrian; PEDESTRIAN from Latin pedester 'going on foot'; from pedes ped 'foot'
