Movember
proper noun Name of a month.; blending and clipping Mo (clipping from moustache) + November
"Movember" is the name given to the month of November during which men grow out their facial hair to bring awareness to men's health issue. "Movember" is formed by clipping "moustache" to "mo" and blending that with "November".
Etymology : The noun "moustache" comes from the 1580s, from the French word "moustache" from the 15th century, previously from the Italian word "mostaccio", which is from the Medieval Greek word "moustakion" mwaning "upper lip, mustache," from the Proto-Indo-European root "mendh-" meaning "to chew". This shows evidence of metonymy since the word originally meant "to chew" but then became associated with the jaw and mouth which a person chews with. "November" comes from 1200s, from Old French "novembre" and directly from the Latin word "November" which comes from "novem" which means "nine" and "ber" denotes a month.
