adverb Describes an action.; clipping Short for the word "totally".
"Totes" means entirely, or definitely. The word is formed by clipping the word "totally" to "tot" and made plural by adding an "es" for an unknown reason.

Etymology : "Totally" was formed in the 16th century by combining the adjective "total" with the suffix "ly" making the word an adverb.The word "total" comes from the late 14th century from the Old French word "total", whcih is from the Medieval Latin word "totalis" meaning "entire, total". This word comes from Latin "totus" meaning "all, whole, entire". Before this the origin is unknown.
